New York dec 14 Mary Blair Brokaw, seeking a decree of separation and $60,000 a year alimony from millionaire husband W Gould Brokaw, defended with wit as cross examination revealed allegations of threats, intoxication and a drunken episode leaving him paralyzed.
Three Australian laborers die and seven people are seriously injured in a rear end collision between the Twentieth Century Limited and the Chicago Boston Limited six miles east of Erie. The Century Limited was said to be traveling at 66 miles an hour in a snow blizzard shortly after midnight. None of the injured are reported as fatally hurt.
Complaint alleges Moses Taylor filed an injunction that cost Elizabeth Taylor $550 to dissolve. Mrs Taylor sues her former husband and his associates for damages, claiming $500 for attorney fees and $60 for travel expenses after a May injunction. The case stems from Taylor’s attempt to force relinquishment of claims to real estate in Douglas County Washington, with the injunction allegedly restraining her actions during the dispute.
Spokane takes a turn as sixty jailed free speech movement members signal willingness to resume labor at Franklin. Leaders say the shift comes as men seek enough food and sustenance to sustain the protest until terms expire.

Cincinnati reports a man and wife brawl ending in a blaze that killed seven and injured three. Victims include John Henderson, 40, and three children, plus Thomas Wilson, William Rucker, and William Groutt. The fire trapped residents after a lamp flame caused rapid spread and blocked stairs.
