Kanens City December 11 Harry J Allen was arrested on embezzlement charges from the Mystic Shrine totaling over 7600 dollars. He pleaded not guilty and was jailed in default of a ten thousand dollar bail.
Washington special Senator Fulton filed with the Indian Commissioner a petition from Pendleton citizens urging suspension or removal of Umatilla Indian Agent D C Edwards. Accusations include drunkenness abuse of authority and pressuring land lease holders to transact with a favored bank. Also asks abolition of trail charges on stockmen and free driving across the reservation without the three cent sheep toll and ten cent cattle toll.
Fifty one round trip tickets for the Heppner excursion were sold at Pendleton offices of the O R and Ny and about 20 more from points along the line. The trip will swell the party to about 100 as the special train arrives in Heppner this evening. James Gregory, 41, a Hot Lake sanitarium employee, died after touching a high voltage transformer. He and an electrician had been repairing the plant when current was restored. A small burn marked the tip of his finger, and he died from the shock.

Forty workers from Thornton's plants in the Neveska district died when the ice on the Neva broke during their crossing. About 60 of the 100 who attempted escape reached shore, while others were swept away. The accident occurred amid the harsh winter conditions and is blamed on the unstable ice.
A San Francisco soap maker’s son Beattie and Decelie-Robert Lang faced arrest on a $51 check forgery charge. Lang drew a revolver and killed himself after the incident. Late, described as a cigarette user, has been identified with activity in Seattle.
