Baker City reports a major foreclosure action filed by Test & Minor and Emmett Callahan for Henry H. Rogers to recover 957,787.60 and 6,060 in fees. The suit lists Allis-Chalmers Co and about 100 defendants including Cornucopia Mines and Pacific Telegraph. Previous sheriff sales dated November 22 and 28 show property transfers to Col. W. F. Butcher. No court action on the new case or injunction is recorded yet.

A mine at the Bartonville asylum caught fire in Peoria on December 9. At the start 185 miners were inside and feared to be lost, but all escaped as flames were brought under control with light casualties.
Walla Walla reports that the State Commission demands immediate funding for the Open River project. The Open River association faces withdrawal of state money unless $27,000 more is raised by December 6. A concrete pledge table and new equipment are requested to accelerate construction and avoid delays.
