East Umatilla project to double county population

W J Furnish says the East Umatilla project will double Umatilla County’s population as about 76 000 acres open for settlement. About 20 000 acres will be banked for government reservoir, with half that area reclaimed by Inland Irrigation Company. The plan foresees the county becoming a garden spot of eastern Oregon and largely settles land use among government, company, and irrigation interests.
