Balboa Schooner Rescued After Surf Stranding
In Aberdeen Washington on December 1 the Westport lifesaving crew hauled aboard Captain Anderson and his crew from the four masted schooner Balboa. The vessel, driven ashore near the north jetty after a daylong struggle in heavy surf, was abandoned as a total loss despite the rescue. The Balboa was sighted late Sunday making for the harbor before finally sticking within 200 feet of the jetty.

Ten people drown in cloudburst at Belton Texas flood
In Dallas Texas on December 2 ten persons died when Nolan Creek rose thirty feet after a cloudburst turning the stream into a raging torrent. The deaths include Mia W. Cc. Podk and her four children and another family of five. sixty houses were demolished as the river breached its banks amid torrential rains.

Robber Holds Up Train and Kills Passenger Agent
A lone gunman boarded the Southern Pacific Sunset express near Pomona and robbed passengers of about $250 and jewelry worth $500 before leaving at El Monte. H. B. Montague, traveling passenger agent for the railway, was shot and killed in the rear Pullman as he met the robber and tried to resist. Well Known Indian Dies At His Home
Philip Minthorn known as Kash Kash and Petin Mox-Mox died at his Tutuilla home last evening after illness. He was about 67. Funeral tomorrow at the Tutuilla church with services by Rev William Wheeler and Rev J M Cornelison. He was the son of chief Yellow Hawk and a longtime prominent religious worker among his people. Burial back of the church he loved. (Continued on page five.)
