In Fayettes City Rolle Vernon Pa Dec 2 a shaft mine explosion at United Coal Naomi mine entombs between 25 and 29 miners with estimates rising to 40 66. Fire damp ignition and concrete shaft walls failed to seal passages as wives and children mourn outside. Gas in the district is highly poisonous leaving little chance of survival.
President Roosevelt today told Representative Hinshaw of Ulinals that he will not deviate from his previous announcement on a third term. This stands as the most erect and positive statement yet made by the president on the issue.

A bloody hatchet and shotgun were found and Sheriff Culver with Deputy Minto went to the scene. Victims aged 60 19 and 24. A bloodied stocking with $60 was found. The foreman arrived from Douglas county amid rumors of a motive surrounding a brutal crime in Oregon.

To McDonald Ponerat Amitainey Turner Oliver and husband Tom Hector McDonsl of Willowa and John Shiw of Walle Wall traveled through the city Sunday en route to Walla Walle to attend the funeral of Mrs M Me McDonalds who died at Bor Lake last Friday. The service was held Sunday afternoon at Walli Willi.

In New York a frail longshoreman Louis Fink fainted after gazing at a family dinner. He had not eaten for three days since quitting his job during a six month old strike. Police found him, sent to a hospital where doctors say his case is serious but he may recover.

Large volume of water moved through the main feed canal on the government irrigation project at Hermiston from the headgate near Echo to within five miles of the big reservoir. A by pass redirects water to a distributing canal as the last five miles of the main feed remain unfinished. Joe Wurzer entered the Lond er office yesterday morning and dumped a sack. He claimed a Thanksgiving turkey for the editor. The turkey measured six foot eight inches across the spread and two foot nine inches tall. It was shot Wednesday by FC. Brown near Wurzer's foothills and will be sent to Wilt Walla for stuffing.
Washington dispatch reports the trial of Anna Bradley for murder ended with Judge Orlando Powers urging mercy. The crowded courtroom heard pleas that the defendant acted from love for Senator Brown and that society had ostracized her. The jury retired as spectators sobered by the dramatic closing.
Preliminary hearing in the Warner case and Detective Croaddick was continued in Justice Parkes court. Warner was released on a charge of forcibly securing a search warrant, while Mrs Warner and Croaddick’s cases were continued to allow for additional witnesses to arrive.
