New Postoffice in Walla Walla Rivals Northwest Modern
Walla Walla Washington December 1 The morning the local postoffice opened in five new buildings erected by Jayco and Co and leased to the government for ten years at a monthly rent of 110 dollars. Workmen moved the mail and fixtures from the old quarters all day yesterday and the doors opened promptly. The new fixtures include all modern handling appliances with five hundred late lock boxes and spacious registry and money order departments. Carriers and rural delivery setups are arranged to speed letter delivery. Postmaster Brunton, in charge of fitting the office, says it is the Northwest’s most modern post office. The building is heated by steam and has gas and electric lights.
