Roseburg Fire Devastates Large Block Near Depot
In Roseburg near the depot a blaze described as one of the history’s worst destroyed about half a block. Losses reached 26000 with a large wooden barn as the ignition source. By 3 this morning the fire was under control. Buildings burned include a stable a two story concrete structure and two two story brick edifices. Eighteen head of horses perished and the fire is thought accidental.

Great Tunnel Fire Extinguished in Montana
Great Falls, Mont. Aug 27 After days of strenuous work the fire in the Billings and Northern tunnel has been put out though trains cannot yet pass. About 150 feet of timbering saved at one end and 400 feet at the other, with roughly 15,000 feet destroyed. Much of the tunnel runs through rock, so trains may run through in about ten days if tracks are not seriously damaged.
