A new company named Cincinnati Indianapolis and Western Railroad will be created by consolidating the Cincinnati Hamilton Indianapolis and the Decatur and Western. The combined mileage reaches 342 miles from Hamilton to Springfield with a river division to Olney. The merger aims to gain control of the Cincinnati Richmond and Muncie line, forming a shorter Cincinnati Chicago route.
Lansing August 28 A notable meeting on promoting and preserving forests of the country is in session at the state capitol under the American Forestry Association. Salem Oregon August 28 William Stewart Larson living near Jefferson arrested on bigamy charges. He married Mary M. Larson in Yambill County four years ago. After separation he allegedly married another woman in Marion County with whom he lives and has a child. Larson remanded to circuit court.
