Smooth forger nets multiple local checks in Pendleton
A man identified as Edward Wilson alias John Thomas alias Thomas Jones alias W F Wilson used forged checks to steal from several Pendleton merchants. He cashed twenty one dollar and thirty cent and thirty nine dollar checks at Livingood and Baer stores and a $26 check at Bond Brothers. Assistant cashier George Hartman traced the forgery, and Deputy Jove Blakeley with Charles Bond arrested Wilson in the city. Wilson, about 40, worked as an office man, had a bottle of ginger ale labeled whiskey, and admitted little. He also used the name James Lethridge and tied Vogt’s endorsement to similar forgeries in Helix and Pendleton.

Five Die After Eugene Train Wreck Near Cottage Grove
