Wilbur Washington August 23 Mrs Jasper Hyatt admits she murdered her infant daughter last Wednesday afternoon. She had claimed the child was killed in a struggle with an unknown man guarding her while nursing. She now says a peculiar spell prompted the killing. She and her husband are under arrest. both had spotless reputations prior.
Wilimantic Conn August 23 The second day of the president's New England tour drew a large crowd in Hartford as the chief magistrate arrived at the depot to embark on a train journey. He was greeted with cheers and promptly taken for a drive after arrival.
The Democratic state committee met at the Grand Union hotel to finalize plans for the state nominating convention. If plans hold, the convention will be held in Saratoga Springs on September 30.
In Chicago the coroner demanded exhumation of a body found on the South Side prairie to confirm if it is Minnie Mitchell, the Bartholin case’s supposed victim. The physician says the remains may not be hers, and investigators will compare height, hand and foot measurements, and dental work to reach identification.

George H. M. Norgan a well known machinist of Portland died Thursday from appendicitis at his home. He was aged in his fifties and had long been a respected member of the local trades community. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at his residence with burial in the city cemetery.
