California Grain Prospects Dim for Wheat and Barley
San Francisco Chronicle reports California wheat yields for 1907 may fall to 226000-250000 tons, well below 1906. Barley yields also trimmed, with possible totals under 450000 tons. Some Sacramento valley areas may have no wheat, while Salinas and parts of Colusa and Glenn counties show better promise. Prices remain favorable for growers as California relies on Oregon and Washington imports, and export demand for barley to Europe supports prices despite lower production.
