Walla Walla Joseph electric railroad project discussed

Professor Anderson of Whitman college in Walla Walla discusses a plan to connect Walla Walla with Joseph and Columbia by an electric railroad. The route would follow Mill Creek to the summit, cross the Grand Ronde, and extend to a terminal at Joseph with a branch to a lake head summer resort. Local interests, including Walla Walla Valley electric line leader W J Cook, are tied to the proposal as a rival path to the O K R N right of way. The wool industry in Wallowa County could drive the railway by boat from Eureka to Portland at lower rates, attracting railroad entry into the valley.
