Pendleton Postal Savings Bank At Risk Of Closure
Pendleton faces potential loss of its postal savings bank as deposits remain low at about 511 with no sign of growth. Assistant postmaster Harry Rees notes deposits rarely exceed 600, few foreigners use the service, and rules limit deposits to 100 monthly and 500 per account. If local use fails to improve, an order for discontinuance could follow.
