Half of Bend county men disqualified from draft
In Bend Oregon Aug 1 county officials report that about one hundred and sixty men were examined for the draft and will have to be counted to reach the quota of sixty seven. Forty were found physically disqualified for disability and seventy claims for exemption were filed. The chief causes of rejection were defective hearing varicose veins and other ailments. Names listed include Malph Bo Btur diver James A Blackstone Chester J Moore Forrest Tastiller Lyle M Richardean Charlee J Thin Fi Iren Ralph J Belang and GC Aller Soothey.

E D Matlock of Furene remains in serious condition at Gond Samaritan hospital after a Saturday night auto accident near Newra. Miss Dott Probwt injured Monday near Terwilliger Boulevard, F M Hendrix of The Finllew died from injuries. Other victims from Sunday crashes are beyond danger and released from hospitals.
