Washington reports indicate John Barrett, minister to Colombia, will help seal a treaty between Panama and Colombia and another between Colombia and the United States. Colombia is expected to recognize Panama’s independence, easing tensions after the separation.
Andrew Ingerman, lineman for Northwestern Gas & Electric, was instantly killed today near Walla Walla after contacting a live wire at work around noon. The accident prompted investigations and safety reviews by company officials.

Prosecution witnesses assert Morghy is untruthful.
The post office department announced a new rural route at North Powder Oregon, starting October 1. The 28 mile route will run up Anthony creek ten miles from town and loop toward Haines serving about 70 families at first.
