Former Pendleton resident in dead

James M. Manes, a former Pendleton resident and Thiel Detective agency representative who married Florence Smyth, died in Spokane last Tuesday after recent heart trouble. A Spanish American War veteran with BE troop, Fourth U.S. Cavalry, he is survived by his wife, his mother in Portland, and brother Charles R. Manes, Portland assistant police chief. Funeral services were held in Spokane Thursday with burial at Riverview Cemetery, Portland.
