San Francisco April 17 Edward J Smith tax collector of the city and county is declared a heavy defaulter with alleged embezzlement between 90000 and 70000 pounds. An acting tax collector today uncovered a further shortage between 7000 and 16000.

Three Negroes Hanged in Allegheny County Jail Yard
The first triple execution in Allegheny county history occurred in Pittsburg jail yard on April 7. Walter Obey Charles Jackson and Charles Miles, all Black men, were hanged for the May 8 1904 murder of Ivan Lusor in Lootdale.
