At Memphis a pledge binding farmers to help increase the nation’s food supply was formalized, urging more production to feed the army and allies in the war effort, with meetings supporting immediate steps.
Washington April 20 Names revived for five battleships now under construction will honor the Constitution Constellation Saratoga Lexington and Ranger from War of 1813. The old Constitution becomes Constitution now a museum ship at Boston Navy Yard and will be redesignated as Constitution. The Constellation will be renamed Constellation training ship at Newport and the Ranger and Saratoga will be rechristened City of Rochester.
