Hermiston Notes Water Run Now for All Settlers
Hermiston unit of the Umatilla project reports water now runs in all ditches. Tests showed water flowing from the main canal through the bypass into every ditch starting Sunday. Engineers aim to finish by late May and say settlers can secure needed water for hundreds of acres. Real estate sales continue as cottages rise and building contracts are let. Sunday excursions from eastern Oregon and beyond will promote Hermiston, with visitors impressed by conditions and watermelons expected this season.
