Washington April 17 Republicans prepare a caucus to back the Ways and Means minority report on the tariff bill. Dem caucus resumes today with plans to offer amendments to fan manufactured wool products and send the bill back to the House Monday in nearly its committee form.
Oakland April 17. A second clash between Italian fishermen and Bay authorities occurred as Chief Arnold of Richmond with four officers halted a boatload. The Italians fired, one man fell in the boat, and several shots were exchanged. Two Italians are believed wounded, and a link to last night’s deputy warden and deputy Clark injuries remains unclear.
Shelton Washington April 17 John Tornow the Wynnothe country outlaw adds two more deaths to his tally when he shot Louis Blur and Charles Lathrop two Shelton trappers who had joined Deputy Sheriff J Quimby of Chehalis County in tracking him. Quimby fired seven times but fled without knowing if Tornow was wounded. Tornow is wanted at Montaeno for the murders of his viver nephews John and Will Bauer in 1911 and for killing Deputy Sheriffs Colin McKenzie and Avel Moore a year ago in the pursuit.
