Washington Letter on Ellis Work for Oregon
Washington reports on Hon. W. R. Ellis of eastern Oregon, detailing his pension work for old soldiers and 613 pension claims since December, plus vast duties in naval and private claim committees. It notes his heavy schedule, lack of home campaigning, and hopes for Pendleton and Dry Land homestead bills, along with plans for a Pacific Coast banquet.

Alfalfa and Barley Feed Boosts Oregon Cattle
An eastern Oregon cattle feeder reports on fattening steers with rolled barley fed in the bottom of alfalfa racks. The practice increased solid fat, reduced the beef’s “pounchy” look, and raised sale price by about 30 cents a pound on prime style cattle. Net per-head profit and weight gains supported the method as a regional feeding advance. Also note a local ad for Bees Laxative Cough Syrup from A. C. Koeppen & Bros.
