Pittsburg April 13 Dr Mere dith proprietor of a maternity hospital where police say at least 20 women died from illegal operations and were cremated in the hospital furnace and Miss Lucy Orr head nurse were jailed today charged with murder The basis of the murder charges was not made public They were originally arrested on accusations of performing illegal operations and the theft of their victims valuables District Attorney Jackson still insists that Dorothy Arnold who he asserts was operated on in the hospital is dying in New York
Hermiston hosts a mass meeting to discuss hard surfacing the Umatilla Pendleton road as a link of the Columbia highway. Pendleton delegates likely attend with Hermiston officials inviting residents and local associations pushing the plan. County judge candidates have been asked to be present.
In Fairmont West Virginia on April 19 Mrs Ethel Graham dressed in a man's clothes with J It a baugh were caught robbing a Baltimore and Ohio freight car in local yards by Officer Gibson of the company. They had a suitcase of goods ready to take with them and were locked in jail.
