L B Cox Dies in Portland After Long Illness

L B Cox died at 1 15 this afternoon after a lengthy illness. A Pendleton native, he had lived in Portland 15 years and practiced law, first with Cox Cotton Teal and Minor and later alone. He was a vestryman of Trinity Episcopal church and a highly regarded figure in Pendleton and Obregon. Funeral plans were not yet set, but were expected to be at Trinity on Saturday.

Ripley Case Resumes In Franklin Subpoenas Ordered

In Frankfort Kentucky on April 11 the Ripley case resumed with a subpoena demanding the Louisville and Nashville railway produce bills of lading for guns shipped to Ripley the day before Governor Goebel's assassination. A subpoena for pacifying telegraph messages was also sought. The Eminence Gap telegraph manager must show all messages Ripley received in the past year.
