The Hermiston School District No. 14 invites scaled proposals to furnish all materials and erect a new addition to the current school building per plans by architect T F Howard. Bids due April 14 1910 at 6 pm, with 5 percent certified check. District may reject any bids and a contract bond is required.
Sealed bids for storage reservoir earth and rock excavation and concrete work on the Umatilla river are due by April 12 1910. Proposals for street sprinkling districts 1 2 3 and 4 in Pendleton must be filed by April 13 1910 with separate bids for each district. Additional bids for sidewalks and a crosswalk on Jane street from Bluff to High street due April 18 1910. Thomas Fitzgerald City Recorder.
Portland Union Stockyards report weak demand across cattle hogs and sheep on April 8 with poor cattle offerings, weaker hog prices around 10.75, and only fair run of hogs. Shippers from Shaniko Sheridan Jewell Idaho and Sugar City supplied cattle and hogs as markets compare to the prior year. Cattle prices: best steers around 7.00, other grades 6.50 to 6.75. hogs 9.60 to 11.10. sheep 8.00 to 9.50, calves 6.00 to 7.00.
