History of Burned Rooms at Portland Chamber of Commerce
The Oregonian recounts the fire damaged Chamber of Commerce building in Portland valued at about 750000 to construct, begun 1901, on a ground valued 125000 to 100000. Built of Tenino sandstone by a corporation of Chamber members, the property was foreclosed and bought by Columbia Investment for Ladda capital, then sold to United Railways for central depot plans. The Commercial Club, organized in 1894, has long aided Pacific Northwest development with hundreds of members from business and professions.
