David Sigler wholesale confectioner sues the Board of Directors of the New York Confectionery Jobbers Association in supreme court alleging conquest of his business by precaution and discrimination. Damages asked amount to 26000 and claims the Manufacturers' Association acts with the Jobbers in the alleged deceit. He says more actions will follow and cites section 168 of the penal code on conspiracy to hamper trade.
A Negro segment house collapsed in Louisville on April 2, trapping residents and causing two deaths and twelve injuries. Preliminary reports indicate rapid structural failure as occupants attempted to escape.
Glasgow April 2 A final trial of Shamrock II against Shamrock I on the Clyde shows the new challenger far superior in windward work. Shamrock II sails before the wind, gains on Shamrock I, and closes in the wake with remarkable ease. Wallula April 2 John Roberts a stranger was shot twice and probably fatally wounded last night at 11 40 in the O BR N yard by William Nave a deputy sh. Roberts walked the tracks saw Nave approaching in darkness thinking Nave was a footpad he fired Nave believed Roberts was a robber and returned fire injuring Roberts in the abdomen. Both men claim self defense and were in the baggage room where Roberts gave his name. He was taken to Wallula hospital for medical care.
William Martin Union No 166 of the Order of Washington hosted a dance and banquet at Hendricks hall on Wednesday night. Forty couples attended and expressed pleasure with the evening. Comrade B L Eyane of Gold Union No 182 brought in the Loam Brown orchestra to perform after a surprise intermission. A committee served supper in the banquet hall before adjourning.
