Clinton man Brice Oakley seeks Iowa Lieutenant Governor
Brice Oakley of Clinton announced Monday his bid for the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. The 40 year old former two term Iowa House member emphasizes strengthening communities and closer state government relations. Oakley, who practices law in Clinton, has a background as an Iowa assistant attorney general, school board director, and legislator famed for adoption law expertise and testimony to the U. S. Senate on adoption issues. He is married to Bette Jeanne and they have three children.

Ten years ago Ed Wesselink became president of the Pella Community school board as Tulip Tower construction by Roth Construction Co progressed. Pella high defeated Chariton 22 to 0 in conference opener with touchdowns from Sid Blommers Kevin Klein and Frank Fuller. Twenty five years ago plans formed to mark the Revised Standard Version Bible release and an 80 acre farm near New Sharon sold for 150 dollars an acre. Fifty years ago Civil War veterans of the 33rd Iowa Infantry held a reunion in Pella with a Legion Auxiliary banquet. Central High’s football team under coach Wm J Douthitt opened with a 9 to 7 loss to Des Moines University. Seventy years ago Chronicle focused on the 33rd Iowa Infantry reunion with many veterans sending messages printed in the paper.
