Enrollment in Public Schools Now Totals 865
The fall term total public school enrollment rises to 865, up 81 from 784 last year, with the biggest gains in grades two, eight, and nine. The junior high reports 120 students, up from 112, driven largely by an eighth grade of 69 that strains facilities in the Webster building. Rural students add 23 to the junior high tally. The Webster Lincoln combined totals reach 615, with 198 at Lincoln and 380 in high school. The high school enrollment hits 350, the highest in school history, aided by a 106 student freshman class and three extra classrooms added two years ago. Tuition students exceed 200, and most secondary classes now have 30 or more. The library study hall capacity remains 120, forcing overflow study halls supervised by teachers including Mr. Andrew and Mrs. Marinus Kregel. Parking concerns arise from nearby Third Church programs, with students urged to walk to Webster for noon lunches.
