May Want to Hold Spring Pigs, Says Iowa Expert

Farmers with late spring pigs should plan to move them with early February sales as lard prices rise and pork demand strengthens. If June intentions hold, fall pig numbers may rise about 5 percent, mainly from summer pigs, with last spring showing 3 percent more pigs than 1919. Farrowings were steadier this year, suggesting heavy hog runs could occur this fall.
