Fire at the C. L. Mix & Son building on Marion County’s square began in the rear ware room and spread through the store. Officials blamed defective wiring, and insurance covered losses. Other businesses in the block included Gilder Bloom Grocery C. M. Jensen harness shop and the Marion County News office.
