Student Council to be chosen in homerooms next week.
The State Conservation Commission accepted federal duck hunting regulations set by the U S Fish and Wildlife Service. The 80 day season runs Sept 20 to Dec 8 from half an hour before sunrise to sunset. Daily bag limit is 10 ducks with no bonus mallards or pintails. one wood duck per day and limit one in possession.
Iowa hunters gain federal extension allowing possession of migratory waterfowl until March 5. State law keeps some limits and permits required for exceptions. No live duck or goose decoys or bath waterfowl use allowed. State authorities may not liberalize but can add rules. past recommendations aligned with federal regs.
The Iowa index of prices received by farmers in mid July stands 14 points above the year ago level and at its highest July 15 value since 1920. The overall index remains unchanged from a month ago at 202 percent of the 1909-14 average while meat animals and poultry eggs show strong gains. Susan Grandhan, granddaughter of a long standing club member, and Henry Klein of International Harvester Company presented a comical film Helpful Henry about a city slicker’s farming misadventures, entertaining members at a recent club gathering.
