Tornado Leaves Destruction Across North Country Farms
A Sunday tornado ripped through the North Country, smashing barns, wrecking livestock pens, and tossing machinery. At Van Roekel’s Cave, the storm forced a family into a storm cellar as fences toppled and a shed collapsed. Lanser and Lanser Jr. farms suffered severe damage, with near-total ruin of buildings, livestock losses, and scattered belongings. Neighbors aided survivors as families prepared to rebuild, noting the storm’s wide, unchecked reach and delayed reports due to damaged telephones.
