Cafe Robbers Get Prison Sentences
Three men implicated in the Jones cafe robbery were sentenced to indeterminate terms of five to twenty five years at the Anamosa reformatory. Judge Homer A. Fuller imposed the terms in Osceola last week. The trio pled guilty to holding up the Boreson restaurant and Linder and Fry service stations in Osceola. They also admitted other robberies and car thefts across southern Iowa and Missouri. Anamosa sheriffs transferred the men with precautions after earlier trouble at the reformatory. Hanford McNider resigned as American ambassador to Canada to aid in the Republican campaign.
