Pella Iowa Colony and Wyatt Earp Family History
The account traces the Dutch founded Pella in Iowa by Dominic Scholte and 800 settlers, their trek from St Louis, and the noble start with a high ridge site. It covers Nicholas Earp and sons including Wyatt, their Civil War service, and the wagon train to California. The piece describes early Pella homes, the 1850s dining room, kitchen, gun room, parlor, upstairs loom, and crafts, plus a note on local artists Schilder Nollen and the community’s pioneer life.
