Keota Claims World Record In Corn Yield
Keota and surrounding territory draw statewide attention with a 10 acre corn yield contest sponsored by the Keota Community club. The top yield was 135.53 bushels per acre by J. H. Greiner of Lafayette township. Harold Palmer posted 124.99 bushels per acre. The contest drew 43 yields over 100 bushels per acre within the six townships around Keota, with 182.3 bushels by S. E. Brower of South English noted among top results. Yields relied on hybrid corn and adjusted to 15 percent moisture. A banquet on November 3 will distribute prizes.
