Absentee Ballots Available After October 13 in Marion County
Marion County Auditor Dixie Brown says absentee ballots can be requested starting October 13 for voters who will be away from their precinct on November 3. Military members should have applied already, with families able to request ballots be sent. Eligibility requires six months in state, 60 days in county, and age 21 or over. Ballots must be received by the County Auditor in time to be delivered to election officials before Election Day.

Household workers wage reports due in Des Moines
Wages paid to household employees in July August and September must be reported to the District Director Internal Revenue Service by October 1. Leo W. Smith says filing delays may incur interest or penalties. Household workers include maids cooks chauffeurs gardeners sitters and others in private homes. If cash wages reach 50 or more per calendar year employers must file the social security report with name social security number and total wages.
