Emigration Threatens Iowa Rural Youth and Future Decade
The University of Iowa Child Welfare Research Station warns that emigration of hundreds of thousands of young Iowans from farming districts over twenty years risks future rural decline. While many farmers descend from strong pioneer stock, continued loss of top youth and falling birth rates could render future generations inferior.
