Weather Crop Bulletin for Iowa Sept 28 1908
The week ending September 28 1908 saw extreme heat until the 26th with a record drought breaking rain. Temperatures averaged ten to thirteen degrees above normal until Sunday then cooled with light to killing frosts across much of Iowa. Pastures and crops suffered yet corn matured enough to largely escape frost damage and hay crops were unusually heavy. Rains in past two days revived pastures and aided fall plowing. Overall a profitable season despite planting rains and late crop shortfalls. Geo M Charter Section Director.
