Turns Logs to Lumber For Greatest Profit
Dick Campbell of Town State College says woodlot income rises with added value. A good woodlot yields about $6 per acre yearly, cutting logs and selling wholesale doubles to $12, while harvesting and custom sawing into lumber brings in about $18 per acre. Using the lumber on the farm boosts average returns to $33 per acre, with earnings above harvesting costs except labor.
