Lynnville Landmark House Burns Down In 1852 Built Fire
Lynnville's oldest residence, built in 1852 by Jesse Arnold, burned to the ground early Nov 18 with estimated losses over 3000 dollars. The former hotel, later a private home, had historical ties to the Civil War era underground railroad and housed the Gilliland family at the time of the fire. Neighbors aided occupants. upstairs furnishings were lost, downstairs mostly saved. The cause remains undetermined.
