In 1967 Jay Bender competed in the regional Pass Punt and Kick contest in Milwaukee and posed for a photo with Bart Starr of the Green Bay Packers. An assistant Iowa attorney general was fined eight dollars and costs after a jury found him guilty of speeding in Dwaine Meyer’s justice court.
