Pella Christian Edges Into Busy Start For Eaglettes
Pella Christian High opened the girls basketball season at Knoxville and returns for Friday’s home opener against Eddyville with JV at 6 30 p.m. The Eaglettes rely on a strong guard court led by Peg Engbers and Becky Engbers while sophomores Vander Lune and Vande Voort vie for posts. Coach Ver Meer cautions progress takes time as two sophomores feature in the post forward and the team aims for consistent scoring and improved record after last year’s 11 10. The schedule includes games with Johnston Albia and ongoing district play as Vander Laan begins his 15th season with a 187 27 career mark.
