Think of Taxes Without Additional Aid
The late Iowa Legislature boosted state aid to schools by 48 million dollars hoping to curb local school taxes. The Iowa Taxpayers Association finds that overall school taxes will still rise next year despite this aid. Teachers would have earned higher pay without 18 million more, and schools will receive 54 million as demanded by the Education Department years ago.
