Newton May 19 George McNeal a nine year old boy was crushed by train cars while jumping on and off the trains between 11 and 12 o clock. His left arm and part of his face were crushed and a hole appeared in his chest. He died after a few hours from the injuries, the heart exposed to view. The Times Journal notes such accidents show the dangers of ignoring warnings and urges caution for other boys and men.
Leonora M. Lake argues that the drink habit among American women threatens moral decay across social strata. She cites August 1900 testimony to support claims about whisky teas punch bowls and social drinking, urging women to lead abstinence and educate girls on alcohol dangers.
