Tulip Festival in Pella Draws Big Crowd Despite Rain
The Carry On Tulip Festival drew larger than expected crowds in fair weather with many uniformed attendees from WACs WAVES and local military units. A projector malfunction marred the evening motion picture but the day’s events, including a grand parade, coronation of Queen Wilhelmina and speeches by Governor Hickenlooper, proceeded with community pride and Dutch pageantry.
