A Boy and a Gun Albert Popma in Narrow Escape Tale
A farm youth near Monroe named Albert Popma learned the dangers of gunpowder after a mishap while he fished and hunted with an old firearm. As he climbed a fence the gun slipped, discharged, injuring his right hand including the end of the index finger and parts of the third and little finger. He received medical care from Dr. Allen and is recovering at his father L. Papma’s home, with no thumb or middle finger damage. The incident offers a moral warning to boys about firearm handling.
