Des Moines May 12 There is ongoing concern in Iowa about cool weather and its impact on crops and finances. Secretary Herrick of the State Horticultural Society remains optimistic, predicting apples at 80 to 85 percent of a normal crop, with raspberries and plums hurt but fruit prospects overall good. Wheat and hay may be smaller nationwide, but Iowa winter wheat looks healthy. Recent rains should help pastures and small grain, while land sales near Winterset show $247.50 per acre cash for an 80 acre parcel. Corn at county elevators ranges 65 to 70 cents per bushel.
