Poultry setting and care for pheasant eggs and chicks

State department instructions for handling English Ring Neck Pheasant eggs emphasize immediate chilling after receipt, placement under a light setting hen, and a crater nest on the ground with a flat bottom. Daily egg turning, dusting for lice, and careful nest maintenance prevent cooling and aid hatching. Hatch occurs in 23 to 24 days. After hatch, move hen and brood to a dry, grassy coop. feed regimens start with milk custard or finely grated eggs, then progress to grain and biscuit meal, with careful weaning.
