Sunray Oil Corporation stockholders approve the merger with Mid-Continent Petroleum at the annual meeting. Teachers Offered Scholarships For Outdoor College
Iowa teachers can still join the Teachers Conserva tion Camp at Springbrook State Park north of Guthrie Center for field trips outdoor labs and informal classes. The three three week sessions begin June 5 June 26 and July 17 and offer college credits through the Conservation Commission Town State Teachers' College and the State Department of Public Instruction. Scholarships remain unfilled and information is available from the Science Department at Iowa State Teachers' College in Cedar Falls.

Iowa May 1 1955 Crop report highlights winter wheat rise
The Iowa Cooperative Crop and Livestock Reporting Service reports winter wheat production forecast at 1,826,000 bushels, up 7 percent from 1954, with yield at 22 bushels per harvested acre. Rye is forecast at 288,000 bushels, about three percent higher than 1951 and above the 10-year average. Hay stocks on farms May 1 are 1,223,000 tons, up 17 percent from a year earlier.

Pasture and Hay Conditions Improve Early May
Pastures across the state are generally good to excellent, supplying more forage than average for the season. May 1 pasture condition at 92 percent of normal trails the previous year’s 83 percent but remains above the 10-year average. Hay crops also show strong development with alfalfa harvest expected earlier, and May 1 hay condition at 94 percent, up 9 points from last year and above average.
Young patrolman recalls worst crashes and fears
In a reflective interview, a two year veteran cop recalls a six death multi car crash and a fatal hit by car of a child. He says he felt numb at first, then not hungry for a while. He fears a future fatal wreck with a car catching fire. A radio call then sends him at 75 mph toward a serious personal injury crash nearby.

Corn Stored in 1953 May Be Resealed Extension Allowed
Extension of price support loans on about 88 million bushels of 1953 corn stored on Iowa farms has been authorized by the state ASC committee as reported to the Marion ASC office. Producers may extend loans on 1968 corn for 12 more months after maturity on July 31, 1955 or until July 31, 1956 with the rate at 84 percent. About 226657 bushels of 1958 corn remain under reseal in Marion county.
